Jay-Z called up world renowned designer Tom Ford and said I’m writing a song and I’m mentioning you in it. The rapper loves the designer’s fashions so much he wrote an anti-drug song about it on his new album Magna Carta Holy Grail.
Tom’s response, “Who would not be flattered to have an entire Jay-Z track named after them? I mean, come on, it’s pretty rare that something like that happens,” Ford said in an interview. “It’s a kind of validation of one’s work, as it means that one has really penetrated and made an impact on popular culture.” “My favorite line is ‘I don’t pop Molly, I rock Tom Ford.’ I love that he gets a ‘high’ from my clothes. I have been dressing him for years now, and I have to say I think he looks great in my clothes,” the designer says. “He is one of our biggest customers.”
Then, Jay-Z came up with knock-off football Jersey and performed the song in it. The jersey has his name, the year he was born 1961 and the drug “molly” struck out. He sells this jersey for $35.00.
On Febraury 17, 2014, Tom Ford honored the gesture with another of his own. In London’s fashion show, he unveiled what he’s calling “a knock-off of the knock-off” — a sequined evening-dress version, completing his and Hova’s circle of admiration.
The dress (or dresses — there was an orange version and a black version) almost stole all the attention at Ford’s fall/winter 2014 show. However, his is being sold for $6,500.
Target has become the new home for many renowned designers. Making designer garments that would otherwise be very expensive, affordable to the average fashionista! So, this fashionista, surely did go and grabbed her set of Peter Pilotto’s fabulous designs! Plus, I got them at 30% off! The skirt was $24.99 and blouse was $17.99. Just in time for spring, this line is just perfect. The key to wearing Peter Pilotto’s clothes, is to keep everything else simple. The prints are so busy, you do not need anything else to fight for the attention. Get yours now and remember, the sizes come small, so you will have to get 1 size bigger than your normal size.
Well, Hollywood’s biggest night is finally here, the 86th Academy Awards! This is also a huge night in the fashion industry, where the stars are scrutinized closely for their choice of wardrobe.
And without any further a due, here are the Best and Worst dressed. We will begin with the worst-dressed listed from bad to worst…
Pharrell Williams- first, the crazy hat at the Grammy’s and now this tux-shorts. At least his legs are moisturized :-). The pair just look very awkward. Her pants look way too small for her.
Sally Hawkins- the look on her face is as if she is apologizing for her choice of gown. It is not a bad looking dress, it just looks matronly and ages her a bit.
Angelina Jolie- And speaking of matronly… Oh my gosh! This dress does NOTHING for her… I don’t get it… smh
Julia Roberts- in this Givenchy gown just looks far too large for her. It should be cinched more everywhere. Huge miss!
Julie Deply- wrong color, too pale, it washes out her much too pale skin. If it was not for her red lipstick, she would have been a total washout.
And now for the WORST-dressed of the entire night… drum roll please……… Liza Minelli- Need I say anything to help make my point? Just look at her shoes. SMH
Now, for the best-dressed of the night… Absolutely beautiful…

The newest fashion “it girl”! Though a graduate of the Yale School of Drama, the Mexico-born, Kenya-raised Nyong’o was entirely unknown until landing the role of Patsey in Steve McQueen’s “12 Years a Slave.” She became an instant global fashion icon overnight! Everyone wants to dress her for the Academy Awards show tonight. She is fierce! However, this speech at the Essence 7th Annual Black Women in Hollywood, was what impressed me the most.
I hope every little dark skinned girl or woman out there, who may have not loved and appreciate their color shade, could begin to take pride in themselves and their beautiful exquisite skin tone and wear it proudly. Just like I to had to learn to do.
The 31-year-old Nyong’o (who just celebrated her birthday Saturday) has exactly what stylists crave: model looks, but also a worldly poise. “This woman has a sense of herself,” Teri Agins, a fashion writer and author said. “She’s wearing the clothes, the clothes aren’t wearing her. She’s a breakthrough. Everything she’s doing is different.” Take a look at why all the buzz :-)…
